PBE workshop: Understanding the counterfactual

PBE workshop: Understanding the counterfactual

On 5th November 2012 PBE, together with PEPA, held a workshop on 'the counterfactual' or 'what would have happened anyway', for charities thinking about impact measurement.

The workshop was part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science.

Professor Mike Brewer, of PEPA, began the session with an introduction to the importance and difficulty of producing a counterfactual, and the main techniques used.

PBE economist volunteers presented practical case study sessions based on their work for charities (Barnardo's, Making Every Adult Matter and Foundation Training Company).

All the presentations are above.
