Pilot Projects

In order to get Pro Bono Economics up and running and learn more about how it might work, two demonstration pilot projects are being set up. These should be valuable in themselves but also for the insights and lessons they provide about the potential and practicalities of PBE.

We are also in discussion with some charities about a second wave of pilot projects to begin later this year. These include Beat (beating eating disorders), Edinburgh Cyrenians, HALT, St Basils, and St Giles Trust.

>> Pilot I
The benefits from preventing sexual exploitation of teenage girls. This will involve Barnardo’s which has expressed full support and practical help. For more information, click here.

>> Pilot II
The value of non-cognitive skills (such as self-esteem) in addition to cognitive skills (such as the three Rs), in particular among children and young adults, in increasing life chances and social mobility. This will involve supporting three small mentoring or counselling charities (Chance UK, The Place2Be and the Brandon Centre), all of whom have expressed support. For more information, click here.
