Covid-19 has put the charity sector under extraordinary pressure, with a potential £10bn funding gap set to open up between now and the end of the year. Nine-in-ten charities expect their income to fall in the coming six months, yet nearly three quarters expect to see an increase in demand for their services. All of that adds up to a serious imbalance – and a catastrophic amount of unmet demand.

While the pressure is being broadly felt across the sector however, the specifics of the crisis are playing out differently from charity to charity. What is worrying charities most? And how has that changed over the course of the pandemic? How have the challenges varied across charities of different sizes? And how are organisations adapting to the changed world?

At this webinar, PBE will set out the findings of its regular survey of the charity sector in the time of Covid. We will then get reflections from Rita Chadha, CEO of the Small Charities Coalition, and from Catherine Roche, CEO of Place2Be, on the specific challenges they and their networks have faced, the coping mechanisms they have developed, and their expectations for the future. We will then open up to a Q&A with the audience.

This is the first of a series of events PBE intends to run on the state of the sector and its prospects for the future, ahead of launching a major new project later in the year.
