Pro Bono Economics Director of Research and Policy Anoushka Kenley said:

“With today’s data showing the lowest flows into work on record, there is growing urgency for a focus on supporting people back into work in addition to protecting those still in work. Charities reading these figures will be braced for more people seeking support with employment skills, financial management and mental health.

“Last week’s much-needed Job Retention Scheme extension is expected to help protect jobs over the next few months, and the crisis is not over with 11.3 in every 1000 employees losing their jobs in the quarter up to October. But the pressure is on for the services that help school leavers just starting out and the hundreds of thousands of people who have found themselves out of work since the pandemic began.”
