Ian joined Pro Bono Economics in November 2018. An economist by training, and with a PhD from University of Cambridge, Ian started his professional career working at Cambridge Econometrics. He then had a long career at HSBC, culminating in senior global roles in commercial banking and then group strategy when he and his family lived in Hong Kong for 3 years. His final role in the insurance division also involved a great deal of globe-trotting. Since returning to the UK and particularly since leaving HSBC, Ian has stepped up his involvement in the third sector, becoming an active member at Pilotlight, joining Goodgym and taking on a board position at a social housing charity.
