In response to today’s ONS release of Labour Market Statistics, Madison Kerr, Economist at Pro Bono Economics, said:

“These figures show early glimmers of recovery, as much of the labour market has started springing back into action.

“However, as lockdown eases, a number of sectors are yet to bounce back. Many face a long climb back to normality. Talk of recovery is likely to feel premature for younger and older groups and those with fewer qualifications, who are still waiting for opportunities to reach them. The social sector has a key role in helping support those individuals build their skills and return to work, yet the capacity crunch it's currently experiencing is an ongoing challenge.”
