John Leonard Eatwell, Baron Eatwell, is a British economist and since 1997 has been the President of Queens' College, Cambridge. A former senior advisor to the Labour Party, Lord Eatwell now sits in the House of Lords as a non-affiliated peer. Achieving his economics undergraduate degree from Queens’ and a PhD from Harvard, Lord Eatwell has lectured in the Faculty of Economics, and is Professor Emeritus of Financial Policy in the Judge Business School. He was Chairman of the British Library from 2001 to 2006 and is currently Financial Commissioner for Jersey and Chairman of the Royal Opera House Pension Fund Trustees. In 1988, he was part of the team that set up the Institute for Public Policy Research, one of Britain's leading think tanks.
