Making the Leap (MTL) is a London-based charity that provides services to children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, aged 12-25, to aid their upward social mobility. In particular, it helps them develop non-cognitive skills (e.g. motivation and confidence) and prepare themselves for work.

The charity approached PBE for advice on their data collection, to help them better demonstrate the impact of the training they deliver in schools. We matched Leanne Stickland with this project, who considered options for theory evaluation, process evaluation, impact evaluation and economic evaluation, drawing on the guidance set out in Treasury’s Magenta Book.

The report proposes several recommendations and ideas surrounding the prioritisation of outcomes, data collection and method modification. We would like to thank Leanne for her hard work on this report, which can be downloaded below.
