Over the last decade, the role that civil society plays has become ever more fundamental to life in the UK. The Covid pandemic shone a spotlight on that, and the cost of living crisis has highlighted it even more starkly. The ever-accelerating importance of civil society to the UK’s social and economic fabric has not yet, however, been matched by recognition at national level.

This is the time for that to change change. The Law Family Commission on Civil Society has come together – across sectors and across parties – to lay out a plan to create the conditions for civil society to thrive. Achieving this ambition requires action from every sector, and leadership from government and the business community, as well as from within civil society itself.

Watch the Law Family Commission on Civil Society’s launch of ‘Unleashing the power of civil society’ – the final report of the two year Commission – with a stellar line up of speakers, including:

  • Deborah Meaden, entrepreneur and businesswoman
  • Stuart Andrew MP, Minister for Civil Society
  • Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson
  • Baroness Valerie Amos
  • Duro Oye, CEO, 2020 Change
  • Sarah Hughes, CEO, Mind
  • Lord Gus O’Donnell, Chair of the Law Family Commission on Civil Society
  • Matt Whittaker, CEO, Pro Bono Economics
