PBE works to end low wellbeing in the UK by changing policy and by changing how organisations work.
We have successfully changed national government policies on charitable giving, data about charities and volunteering, and the relationship between civil servants and charities. In total, our research and insights have helped secure over £1 billion of government funding including for children’s services, numeracy education and, in 2023, £100 million of funding for charities struggling with the cost of living.
And across our lifetime, we have supported 504 charities and other purposeful organisations. In 2023 alone, we supported 137 charities and other purposeful organisations, taking the number of services we’ve delivered in our lifetime to 655. Whether they benefited from short-term support or in-depth evaluation, the charities that we have worked with rate their likelihood to recommend us at 9.5 out of 10.
Over the last year, some of the ways charities have used what they gained accessing PBE’s services to:
All this is to end low wellbeing in the UK, improving real lives – such as the life of Linda, a Mum who has struggled to get her two disabled children the care they need. When we produced a report on the need for local authorities to better support children with special educational needs and disabilities, she said:
“The report was absolutely brilliant and will have tremendous impact. The fact the report acknowledged parent care time and stress was good to read. I was thankful it recognised parents and the research actually counted us in. It meant that we matter too. I’m very proud of it. The report really gives me hope.”
